Janet Cristenfeld's life has been an artistic and spiritual journey. After studying painting and photography at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, Janet moved to New York City and continued to make and exhibit art. In oil, watercolor, and pencil, she has depicted the emotions, sensuality, and spirit of human beings and created imagery of spiritual figures as an expression of consciousness and love. "I see art as a visual manifestation of the soul. I believe art heals by touching us and helping us communicate, and is a means of expanding our awareness.Through art we bring our inner knowing into this world."
Janet has exhibited in solo and group shows in the New York area, including the Parrish Museum in Southampton, NY, and in Washington, DC. Her paintings and drawings can be viewed at her art website, www.janetcristenfeld.com.
In 1999, she became a Reiki practitioner and, eventually, a Reiki Master and instructor. Her years of making art and doing spiritual healing came together in a new form when she began receiving visions of the Souligraphy™ Symbols in 2003. She started to draw and meditate with them and use them in her healing sessions. Janet has launched a line of jewelry and is creating paintings, an art book, meditation cards and an app of the Symbols. She has facilitated Souligraphy™ Healing & Meditation Circles and works with private clients.
